At SOBY, we are committed to the green transition and see it as part of our responsibility as a production company. We recognize that the climate challenges require action and strive to be an active part of the solution. For us, green transition is also about creating new opportunities for innovation, growth and development – for ourselves, our customers and the wider agro industry of which we are a part.
Green transition in the industry: A necessity and an opportunity
A green transition is also an unavoidable condition for industry. It is about creating a balance between economic growth and environmental responsibility. For SØBY, green conversion is not only a necessity; that is also a possibility. We believe that the effort can create innovation and lead to new business opportunities that strengthen the competitiveness of both ourselves and our dealers.
We see the work with the green transition as an opportunity to reduce the environmental impact throughout our value chain and help our customers do the same. We therefore work purposefully to integrate sustainable initiatives in all aspects of our operations – from the development of energy-efficient solutions to the optimization of our own processes.
Responsible operation in the future demands for sustainable measures
We know that many farmers face challenges when it comes to combining sustainable measures with productivity and profitability. Therefore, we continuously develop our solutions so that they remain practical, cost-effective and at the same time support responsible operations. In this way, we hope to be able to contribute to agriculture's task of meeting the future's demands for sustainable measures, without compromising on their business.
Our initiatives: From vision to action
At SOBY, we translate our vision of a green transition into concrete action. We have implemented a number of measures in our own production to reduce CO2 emissions and improve resource efficiency. This includes everything from minimizing waste to optimizing energy consumption in our production. We also work with our suppliers and partners to promote sustainable practices across the entire value chain.
SOBY has a strong tradition of supporting associations and organisations, as part of contributing to initiatives that promote community, health and development across different parts of society. Read more about our CSR-related efforts here.
Project GREEN is an EU regional fund project which offers small and medium-sized companies an energy screening. An impartial adviser found potential for energy or resource optimization at SØBY, which is now being implemented.
SOBY has worked intensively with a more sustainable business model, which comes all the way around the company. Through the company program SMV:Grøn, external consultants have looked at all potentials from business partners to production processes.
The project has dealt with procurement, energy consumption and waste management, optimization of processes and supplier cooperation. Now SOBY works, among other things. with reducing waste so that raw materials are used better.
In cooperation with the industry's foundation, SOBY has gone one step further towards accelerating the green transition with participation in "SERVITIZE - sustainable service concepts of the future". The initiative focuses on servitization, digital transformation and sustainability.
SOBY is a member of the Manufacturing Academy of Denmark (MADE), an association of industrial players who work to create and implement the sustainable measures of the future within advanced production.
EU regulations on energy efficiency can be difficult for the farmer to meet with plants that do not run regularly. But the fan, which is connected to the systems, can be the key to reaching the statutory energy requirements.
Our production uses robots and other automation, so we can be sure that the processing can be coordinated with the rest of the process. It ensures quality, optimizes the use of materials and reduces waste.
SOBY's new fiber laser uses optical fibers to convert electrical energy into light. It is far more energy efficient than traditional Co2 laser cutters, which provides enormous energy savings and then it works at lightning speed.
